Drachm (Silver, 31 mm, 3.97 g, 4 h), Arab-Sasanian type, BYŠ (Bishapur), citing governor Khalid ibn ʿAbd Allah (AH 73-75 / AD 692-694), AH 74 = 693/4. Draped Sasanian-style bust to right, wearing elaborate mural crown; behind head, ‘GDE ʾp̄zwt'’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘hʾlyt' Y ʾp̄dwlʾʾn’ (‘Khalid ibn ʿAbd Allah’ in Pahlavi); in outer margin, ‘bism Allāh ˗ Muḥammad rasūl Allāh’ (‘In the name of Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and pellet; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, BYŠ (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Album 24. Rare.
